According to data from agency Mediana Fides and Globus magazine, 62.2 per cent of citizens are opposed to Kosor’s leadership, which says the magazine is troubling for the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) PM just one year ahead of parliamentary elections.
The magazine points out that any political capital the PM acquired in the past year from her foreign policy successes and the promotion of her economic recovery programme may have now dwindled.
Close friend, the Minister of Finance Ivan Suker, is faring even worse with 80.1 per cent believing he does not do his job well. Together with the PM he is the one most responsible for implementing the government's economic policies.
Although the government had intended to implement salary and pension cuts as part of its programme, it refrained from the highly unpopular move that could have had serious repercussions in the elections. The same research shows that 64.1 per cent of citizens are not ready for such cuts.
